The Principles of Exalting God and Bearing Witness for God
1. You must venerate God as great and supreme, have a God-fearing heart, and only obey and worship God; you are not to worship man or be restrained by man;
2. You must fellowship the truth and the knowledge of God according to God’s words, lead people to understand the truth and enter into reality, and bring them before God;
3. Be able to hold firmly to the truth and uphold God’s work; do not compromise or concede defeat to the forces of Satan, but use the truth to resolve all the problems of God’s chosen people;
4. Your focus must be on practicing the truth and entering into reality in your duty, so that you can handle matters with principle and live out a true human likeness to bring glory to God.
Relevant Words of God:
1. Man should not magnify himself, nor exalt himself. He should worship and exalt God.
…………
8. People who believe in God should obey God and worship Him. You should not exalt or look up to any person; you ought not to give first place to God, second place to the people you look up to, and third place to yourself. No person should hold a place in your heart, and you should not consider people—particularly those you venerate—to be on a par with God, to be His equal. This is intolerable to God.
from “The Ten Administrative Decrees That Must Be Obeyed by God’s Chosen People in the Age of Kingdom” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
If you can’t testify to the inside story and substance of the work of God Himself, then you’re not bearing testimony! Above all, bearing testimony requires that you speak of your knowledge of God’s work, of how God conquers people, of how He saves people, of how He changes people, and of how He guides people to enter in, allowing them to be conquered, made perfect, and saved. Bearing testimony means speaking of His work and all that you have experienced. … It is only because you have experienced each step of His work that He asks you to bear testimony to Him, and if you hadn’t experienced this, then He would not make such demands of you. Thus, when you bear testimony to God, it is not to testify to His exterior of normal humanity, but to the work He does, and the path He leads, it is to testify to how you have been conquered by Him, and in what aspects you have been made perfect. This is the kind of testimony you should bear. … You have experienced each step of chastisement, judgment, refinement, trials, setbacks, and tribulations, and you have attained conquest, and put aside the prospects of the flesh, your personal motivations, and the personal interests of the flesh—in other words, all people’s hearts have been conquered by God’s words. Although your life has not grown to the extent He asked, you know these things, and you are utterly convinced by what He does—then this is testimony, and this testimony is real! The work God has come to do—judgment and chastisement—is in order to conquer man, but He also concludes His work, ends the age, carries out the final chapter of His work. He ends the entire age, saves all of humankind, totally delivers humankind from sin, and completely gains humankind, which He created. This is all what you should bear testimony to.
… In the future, when the gospel is spread, you should be able to speak of your own knowledge, testify to all that you have gained in your heart, and spare no effort. This is what should be attained by a created being. What is the significance of this stage of God’s work? What is its effect? And how much of it is carried out in man? What should people do? When you can speak clearly of all the work done by God incarnate after coming to earth, then your testimony will be complete. When you can speak clearly of these five things—the significance, content, substance of His work, His disposition represented by it, and His work principles—then this will prove that you are capable of testimony, and that you are truly possessed of the knowledge. ... If you are resolved to be one of God’s witnesses, you must understand what God loathes, and what God loves. You have experienced much of His work, and through this work, you must come to know His disposition, and what He loathes and loves, and understand His will and His requirements of mankind, and use this to testify to Him and perform your duty.
from “Practice (7)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
You will say that God’s work is full of wisdom, and His work in you has truly convinced you and conquered your heart. You will always love Him because He is more than worthy of mankind’s love! If you can speak to these things, you can move people’s hearts. All of this is bearing witness. If you are able to be a resounding witness, to move people to tears, that shows that you truly are one who loves God. That’s because you are able to act as a witness of love for God and God’s actions can be expressed through you. And through your expression, other people can seek out His actions, experience God, and they’ll be able to stand steady in whatever environment they find themselves in. Only bearing witness this way is genuinely bearing witness, and this is exactly what is required of you now. You should say that God’s actions are extremely valuable and worthy of being treasured by people, that God is so precious and so abundant, He can not only speak, but even more He can refine people’s hearts, bring them enjoyment, and He can gain them, conquer them, and perfect them. From your experience you will see that God is very lovable. So how much do you love God now? Can you really say these things from your heart? When you are able to express these words from the depths of your heart you will be able to bear witness. Once your experience has reached this level you will be capable of being a witness for God, and qualified for it.
from “Those Who Are to Be Made Perfect Must Undergo Refinement” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
When you bear witness to God, you should mainly talk more about how God judges and chastises people, what trials He uses to refine humans and change humans’ disposition, how much you have endured, how much rebellion and corruption within you has been revealed, and in what ways you have resisted God. Then you can talk about how you were eventually conquered by God and how you should repay God. Put substance into this kind of language, put it in a simple way, and don’t talk about empty theories. Speak of substance, speak from the heart, that’s enough for you to experience. Don’t prepare empty theories with great apparent depth as embellishment. This would seem too arrogant and senseless. Speak more of truths from practical experiences in reality, of the words from your heart. Those are what benefit people the most and are most appropriate for people to be exposed to.
from “The Basic Sense Which Man Ought to Possess” in Records of Christ’s Talks
In the church, you shall stand firm in your testimony to Me, uphold truth—right is right and wrong is wrong—and do not confuse black and white. You shall be at war with Satan and must completely vanquish it so that it never rises. You must sacrifice everything to protect My testimony. This shall be the goal of your actions, do not forget this.
from “The Forty-first Utterance” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
Those who God refers to as overcomers are those who are still able to stand witness, maintain their confidence, and their devotion to God when under the influence of Satan and under siege by Satan, that is, when within the forces of darkness. If you are still able to maintain a heart of purity and your genuine love for God no matter what, you stand witness in front of God, and this is what God refers to as being an overcomer.
from “You Ought to Maintain Your Devotion to God” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
All those religious interrupters and those who demolish the building of the church must not be tolerated in the slightest and I will judge them immediately. Expose Satan, trample it underfoot, destroy it utterly and leave it nowhere to hide. All manner of demons and ghosts will surely reveal their true forms before Me and I will cast them all into the bottomless pit from which they will never be free; they are all beneath our feet. If you want to fight the good fight for the truth, then first of all, don’t give Satan any chance to work, and to do this you will need to be of one mind and be able to serve in coordination, relinquish all your own conceptions, opinions, views and ways of doing things, quiet your heart within Me, focus on the voice of the Holy Spirit, be attentive to the work of the Holy Spirit and experience God’s words in detail. You must have only one intention, which is that My will can be carried out. You should have no other intention. You must look to Me with all your heart, watch My actions and the way I do things closely, and do not be negligent at all. Your spirit must be sharp, your eyes open. Ordinarily, those whose intentions and objectives are not right, those who love to be seen by others, who are eager to do things, who are prone to interrupting, who are strong in religious doctrine, Satan’s lackeys, etc., when these people stand up they become difficulties for the church and the eating and drinking of brothers and sisters comes to nothing; when you find this kind of person play acting then ban them immediately. If time after time they do not change then they will suffer greatly. If those who stubbornly persist in their ways come to their own defense and try to cover up their sins, the church should cut them out immediately and leave them no room to maneuver. Do not lose a lot by trying to save a little, and keep your eye on the big picture.
from “The Seventeenth Utterance” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
During the process of seeking to enter, every matter must be investigated and compared against God’s word and compared against the truth; they must be thoroughly mulled over to know how to do them in a way that is entirely in conformity with God’s will. Things that arise from your self-will can then be abandoned. You will know how to do things in conformity with God’s will and will then go and do them, as though everything is taking its natural course, and it will feel exceedingly easy. People who have the truth do things in this way. You can then really show others that you have genuinely changed your disposition, others will see that you surely possess some good deeds, and that you do things in a principled way, and do everything right. They will see that this is someone who understands the truth, who certainly has some human likeness and, sure enough, the word of God has reaped results with them.
from “Only by Seeking the Truth Can You Obtain Changes in Your Disposition” in Records of Christ’s Talks
That is to say, since you acknowledge that you are numbered among the house of God, you ought then to bring peace of mind to God and satisfy Him in all things. In other words, you must be principled in your actions and conform to the truth in them. If this lies beyond your ability, then you shall be detested and rejected by God and spurned by every man. Once you have fallen into such a predicament, you cannot then be counted among the house of God. This is what it is meant by not being approved by God.
from “Three Admonitions” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
As soon as God becomes the life within people, they become unable to leave God. Is this not the deed of God? There is no greater testimony! God has worked to a certain point; He has said for people to do service, and be chastised, or to die, and people have not backed away, which shows that they have been conquered by God. People who have the truth are those who, in their real experiences, can stand firm in their testimony, stand firm in their position, stand on the side of God, without ever retreating, and who can have a normal relationship with people who love God, who, when things happen to them, are able to completely obey God, and can obey God unto death. Your practice and revelations in real life are the testimony of God, they are man’s living out and the testimony of God, and this is truly enjoying God’s love; when you have experienced to this point, the due effect will have been achieved. You are possessed of actual living out and your every action is looked upon with admiration by others. Your appearance is unremarkable, but you live out a life of the utmost piety, and when you communicate the words of God, you are guided and enlightened by Him. You are able to speak God’s will through your words, communicate reality, and you understand much about serving in spirit. You are candid in your speech, you are decent and upright, non-confrontational and decorous, able to obey God’s arrangements and stand firm in your testimony when things befall you, and you are calm and composed no matter what you are dealing with. This kind of person has truly seen God’s love. Some people are still young, but they act as someone of middle age; they are mature, possessed of the truth, and admired by others—and these are the people who have testimony, and are the manifestation of God.
from “Those Who Love God Will Forever Live Within His Light” in The Word Appears in the Flesh
The Man’s Fellowship:
Exalting God and witnessing for God is the supreme principle of human existence. If the practice of exalting God and witnessing for God is absent from one’s life, he will lose real life. There will be no value for his existence. Exalting God and witnessing for God is also God’s requirement for man. Those who can exalt God and witness for God in the midst of men are the ones who are in accordance with God’s will. There are mainly five principles of practice for exalting God and witnessing for God:
The first article is to let God be in the first place. Whether it is in personal life or getting along with others and serving in coordination, one must honor God as great and exalt God, absolutely obey under the authority of God, not see any man as the head, not flatter, laud or worship anyone, and not uphold the status of anyone. He must uphold the truth and let God be in the first place, exalt God for people to worship God, obey God, obey what comes from God, and not be governed by people out of emotion by abandoning the truth and doing transactions with the interests of God’s house.
The second article is to use God’s word as a guide in everything, let God’s word take power, forsake the flesh to give up one’s own will, preclude all the human concepts and practices. He must not just practice this way himself, but also learn to lead others to practice like this, and always communicate God’s word with others to understand the truth and make progress together with them. Living amid people or interacting with others requires one to take God’s word as the basis of survival and to take the truth as principle. Living in this way, there will be a testimony.
The third article is to let God’s word fully possess one’s own heart, be able to see things by God’s word, act by God’s word, live by God’s word, and let God’s word become his life and the foundation of his existence. Only when one has the truth can he lead people. Only when he has testimony can he testify for God, and bring greater benefits to people by taking the lead in practicing the truth.
The fourth article is one must resolve all problems by God’s word with respect to his family, marriage, children, work, performing duty, and dealing with others. He must find the paths of practice in God’s word, abandon all plans for the flesh and eliminate the worldly views and absurd ideas of non-believers in order to act with principle and live with the truth. This is the best practice of exalting God and witnessing for God.
The fifth article is to face justice, uphold the truth, and maintain God’s work, not compromise with the forces of darkness, be able to use God’s word to reveal the truth behind all Satan’s work, to resolve all the disturbances and bondage of Satan, so that God can be exalted, enjoy man’s praise, and fully obtain glory. No matter who is in God’s house, regardless of his status or qualifications, as long as his practice does not comport with the truth and harms the interests of God’s house, we should fellowship about God’s word to let people understand the truth and act according to God’s word, bringing people to God with God’s word. This is someone who exalts God and witnesses for God.
The five aspects above are the principles of exalting God and witnessing for God. Anyone who truly loves God should have a God-fearing heart. He must exalt God and witness for God in any matter and at any time, to let people live in the light. Possessing the practice of these five aspects is bearing good witness for God. Without practicing and entering these five aspects, one is unqualified to be a witness for Christ. Naturally, the practice of these five aspects requires a clear understanding of the truth. It must be done tactfully with wisdom so that it is beneficial and acceptable to people. It is also necessary to learn to go with the flow and benefit from the situation, so the results can be even better.
